Could you save over £400 a year?

Is your child entitled to ‘Free School Meals’ & ‘Pupil Premium’ to help their education?

At Prendergast Ladywell a hot healthy lunch costs £2.30 per day (£11.50 per week).

Your child can get free school meals if your combined annual household income is below £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC) and you get one of the following benefits:

  • income-based: income support or jobseeker’s allowance (not eligible if on contribution based jobseeker’s allowance)
  • income-related: employment support allowance (not eligible if on contribution based employment support allowance)
  • universal credit
  • income support
  • the guaranteed element of state pension credit
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • child tax credit only.

Once applications are approved, money is automatically applied to pupil's accounts for them to spend in the canteen each day, saving you around £400 a year.

In addition to free school meals, your child’s school will also receive extra money, up to £1320 per year, (pupil premium) which will be used to benefit your child.

You can apply online at www.lewisham.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals.
